To pursue a career in film scoring, Evan decides to not go to a University for formal education, rather electing to study film scoring at night classes at UCLA Extension. Evan was accepted to CalArts in Valencia, CA, USC in Los Angeles, CA as well as the Ecole Normale du Musique in Paris, France.

In a daring move, but not inconsistant with Evan's strong personality, he doubles up his classes so as to recieve his certificate of film scoring in 9 months rather than a year and a half. His fellow students and teachers are impressed with his tenacity and talents. Evan moved into the guest house above the garage of a relative of his attorney's in one of the most prestigious homes in Beverly Hills, between Rodeo and Beverly Drive on Park Street. He arrived at the age of 17 only to have his 18th birthday a few days later, on September 13th.

"This was one of the most important days of my life, as it should be. Moving from home into my first apartment. The depth of my thoughts were astounding in the solitude", recalls Evans.
